"Keller Kids" became an important part of the Helen Keller Festival in 1994. It serves as an educational vehicle and is geared to 5th graders. "Keller Kids" will again include some children with impairments as well as local school children with no impairments. All children registered in the program are invited to ride the float during the Festival Parade on Thursday, June 28th, at 5:30 p.m.

The official "Keller Kids" program begins at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, June 26th, 2008 at Tuscumbia Parks and Recreation Center in Tuscumbia. Pre-registered children will spend the day participating in fun-filled activities designed to help children understand the everyday life of the hearing impaired and blind. During the activities, a song will be learned in sigh language and will be presented from the main stage in Spring Park on Saturday, June 28th, at 4:30 p.m. (Kids need to wear their official shirt to this event.)
