Jacob Simons
2013 ART WINNER

Jacob Simons was born December 3, 1996 in Mobile Alabama. His mom Jessica says Jacob loves riding horses, swimming, going to camp, and trying new things. She says he doesn't know the meaning of the word NO you can't. He lives with his parents in Mobile, and his younger brother and sister. They enjoy spending time together doing activities such as deep sea fishing, and watching Alabama Football games together. Jacob is a big fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Jacob attends Alabama School for the Blind in Talladega Alabama. Jacob is very social and has many activities that he participates in. He has competed in the local Alabama Special Olympics every year since he has attended school at ASB. He loves Goal Ball, wrestled last year, and ran track this year.

Jacob was awarded 5 ribbons for for track events at the yearly Competition at SCASB. Jacob also likes to sing and dance. He knows the words to every song on the soundtrack to the movie Spirit. He has a great affinity for Country music, and his favorite singer is Luke Bryen.

Jacob is also interested in social issues. He wears a small pink hair piece in his hair to show his support for Breast Cancer Awareness. Jacob is quoted as saying, "Real men wear pink." Jacob has many friends at ASB, and enjoys spending time with them.

Jacob is loved by his teachers who say he always has a smile on his face, and a positive attitude. He is also concerned about the welfare of others. When students he knows are out of school sick, he often asks about them, and offers to pray for them to feel better.

When asked one day what kind of dog he would like to be Jacob said a St. Bernard. This seemed fitting as they are described as a loyal, sensible, and muscular breed who are accepting of everyone. Jacob is a nice looking young man, so he doesn't have any trouble finding a girlfriend. His teachers describe him as a courteous young man who is polite to his classmates. Overall Jacob has been described as a wonderful young man, who brings joy to everyone he meets.
